I am fairly certain this is not pork flavored cotton candy, although I cannot personally verify that. This picture was taken at a park here is Qingdao.
rest assured, I’m pretty sure it is not pork-flavored! Unless I am wrong, that cotton candy is just regular cotton candy. The bag says, 「花糖〔hua1 tang2″ which means “flower candy.” In Japan, they also have 「金è¯ç³–〔kinkato” (”gold flower candy”) which is a kind of melted sugar treat used in festivals for good fortune. The Japanese version has one extra character, 「金ã€or “gold,” and the second one, 「è¯ã€is the traditional version of the simplified character「花ã€on the bag. I’m pretty sure that it is very similar, if not identical, to the Chinese version. I can check on this more later, when I have some more time…
I think the pig is probably in reference to this being the year of the boar…
I think I might like pork flavored cotton candy. Regular cotton candy is always so sweet. I don’t like pork rinds though (basically because the concept is so disgusting), so maybe pork is a bad idea for cotton candy. Who knows.
