You will need to sit through a commercial and watch very closely.
UPDATE: WIth all of the controversy going on in late night TV I’ve decided not to enter the fray.

Sunday, November 1st, 2009Watcha Gonna Do When They Come for You?
Sunday, October 11th, 2009This is as close to an episode of COPS as I want to get.
Yesterday, as I was leaving my parent’s tranquil neighborhood in Morgantown, WV I was nearly run off the road by an unknown person in a Honda CRV. My interest was piqued when I noticed he was being closely followed by a police car, lights flashing in full-on car chase mode. Not too far behind where a couple more cruisers in hot pursuit. I found out later they finally caught up with the allegedly stolen vehicle after an extensive chase.
Now I really want some ’spike strips’ of my own.
Here are some local news reports on the incident:

New Look, Same Great Taste!
Sunday, October 4th, 2009I have received some pressure lately to join Facebook and/or Twitter. Mostly because people are concerned I’ve fallen off the face of the earth or worse. Instead of bending to peer pressure I thought an update to Stewsnews might be in order.
I cannot promise that I’ll be very regular with my posts; my life is just not that interesting these days. However, I’ll try my best to put something up even if is just the occasional photo.
Quick Update
Sunday, September 3rd, 2006Just a short note to let everyone know I have arrived in Qingdao. Although today was the first day of school for the students, I do not start until next week. The school administrators figure I need at least that long to re-adjust to living in China.
Until I have some interesting to say I suggest reading about my friends Andy and Sarah and their new baby:http://lewisesintheham.blogspot.com/. Congrats!
(Foreign Babes in Beijing)
Sunday, April 9th, 2006During my first stay in China, as a student in 1994, there was a very popular television series titled Foreign Babes in Beijing. It was the story of two American women who come to Beijing to study only to end up becoming evolved with a couple of Chinese men and their family. It was social commentary thinly disguised as light entertainment. The characters were painted with broad strokes: stereotypes were plentiful. One of the women was all that was good about America and the West, the other just the opposite. The “bad girl” (Jiexi) was by far the more interesting character and when I watched the show it was for her storyline. A couple of years after the show ended I met the actress who played Jiexi, Rachel DeWoskin; she had a small role in a film I worked on, Restless.
Rachel has written a book about her time in China, titled Foreign Babes in Beijing: Behind the Scenes of a New China. Book came out last year and I finally got around to reading it a few weeks ago. The book paints an appealing portrait of expatriate life in Beijing during the 1990’s. I found her experiences very similar to my own, even though I didn’t star in a television series. I suspect things are very different these days; the pace of change is one the things I like most about Beijing. For more info on the book check out these links:
Hello world!
Saturday, August 20th, 2005Inspired by my brother and his wife, here is my blog. It seems like every dude I know has a blog, so why shouldn’t I. Not that I have any specific goals or even any very good ideas for a blog; but at least I’m finally putting my domain to some use. I’ll try and keep the inquiring minds updated on what I am doing to stay busy. I’ll also post random photos of my travels.
I am currently reading a great book: Yes Man, by Danny Wallace. I joined Danny’s cult last year and have been wondering what he has been up to. Turns out he has been saying yes to all sorts of offers and proposition. The book is funny and inspirational without being preachy.
